Reiki is a spiritual healing art with its roots in Japanese origin. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei) which means “Universal Life” and (Ki) which means “Energy”. Reiki is the life energy that flows through all living things. It is believed that a person’s “Ki” or energy should be strong and free flowing. When this is true a person’s body and mind is in a positive state of health. When the energy becomes weak or blocked it could lead to symptoms of physical or emotional imbalance. Reiki is not affiliated with any particular religion or religious practice. It is not massage nor is it based on belief or suggestion. It is a subtle technique that uses the life force energy to heal, balancing the subtle energies within our bodies. The Reiki practitioner serves as a vessel that supplies healing energies where they are most needed by the recipient.

It is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement. It should NEVER be used in place of medicines or a Physician, but works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery (such as Chemotherapy, Radiation etc.)  It can also be used on animals.

Benefits of Reiki include:Increased Energy Levels, Increased Mental Clarity, Personal Ability to Grow, A Sense of Calm or Balance, Emotional Healing & Stability, Clearing & Balancing of Chakras, Can Provide Relief from Chronic Pain, Boosts & Strengthens the Immune System, Compliments & Supports Conservative Medical Treatment, Helps to Deal with Suppressed or Blocked Emotions & Feelings, Helps with Depression and Reduces Stress, Tension, Anxiety & General Emotional Distress.

Distance  or Remote Reiki, is a way for a Practitioner to channel healing energy to anyone, anywhere in the universe. Healing energy is just that, energy. Energy is not bound by space and time, and does not need to travel through time. It can arrive right away by the intention of the healer. Distance healing can be sent for any condition, whether it’s physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. Improvement can be instantaneous or improve over time. How the recipient responds can vary. Some may feel warm, cold, feel sensations in their body or just feel more calm and relaxed. It’s common that they feel nothing, but that doesn’t mean that nothing is happening. Some are just not aware of it.

A Reiki treatment supports the whole person — physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. When a Reiki practitioner places his/her hands on or just above an area of the Recipient's fully clothed body, Reiki flows through the practitioner into the person receiving the treatment. This flow may be felt as any type of sensation—heat, cold, vibration, tingling, unusual heaviness, or sometimes as no sensation at all.  A full Reiki treatment takes about 60 to 90 minutes.

You’ll want to be sure you've eaten and hydrated a few hours before the session, mostly so you will be as comfortable as possible and not distracted by hunger or thirst.  Avoid eating a heavy meal beforehand, however, as you don’t want all of your body’s energy to be directed toward digesting while you’re receiving your treatment.  You will be laying down for the majority of your session, so comfort is key for being open to taking on and integrating the Reiki energy. Be sure you are wearing comfortable clothes.  Either wear or bring socks since shoes are removed during the session and the feet can get cold.  You’ll also want to use the restroom before the session, and if the position you are in for your session is uncomfortable in any way, let me know because I want to be sure you are as comfortable as possible.  The most important thing of all is that you go into your session with an open mind and ready to receive the energy.  If you are not then it might not work.

After doing any type of energy work it’s important to hydrate, so be sure to drink 1-2 glasses of water after your session.  If you are hungry then make sure you eat something and that it's not heavy.

Each session is complete in itself and improvement may come over days or even weeks, depending on how fast the individual can integrate what happened during the energy session.
